Summer Series Trustee Training

Our Summer Trustee Training webinars aim to keep trustees up-to-date with current and relevant information and we will share Irish Life insights on key regulatory and current market challenges facing Trustees and their advisers in 2020.

Listen to our second webinar in the series of Trustee training - Key issues for Trustees in 2020 here.

Key points discussed in this session are:

  • The Pensions Authority’s future approach to DB.

  • Best in class member engagement delivers simple targeted messages to members at a convenient time and using the correct channel (often digital).

  • The COVID 19 crisis has shown that pension scheme members are enthusiastic about engaging with digital communications as indicated by the participation levels and feedback we have received since mid-March.

  • Our employee resource centre has been developed to bring together all of the supports for members, Trustees and employers in one place:

We will continue to support you throughout this time and have more sessions planned for the Summer Series of Trustee Training in August so please look out for your invite. Each session carries 0.5 hours CPD.

Listen to our first webinar in the series of Trustee training - Investment themes in 2020 here.

The investment themes we see emerging in 2020 are:

  • DB: matching portfolio reviews, diversification in growth portfolios and bulk annuities as an investment asset class;
  • DC: review of default strategy/lifestyling, interest in ESG fund options from members and white labelling of funds.
  • Pension related impacts from Covid 19 which Trustees need to be aware of – including risk benefits over, cessation of contributio and the temporary wage subsidy provisions.
  • The EU Supplementary Pension Rights Regulations 2019 are now impacting on leavers with less than 2 years’ service.

Each session carries 0.5 hours CPD.
