Irish Life Staff Charities Update 2023

Every year Irish Life employees raise funds for two chosen charities. Started in 1995, Staff Charities and our employees have raised a total of €4million.  As well as annual fundraising events and taking part in MyLife challenges, 1000 Irish Life employees donate via salary deduction every month, raising €130k annually.

This year's Irish Life charity partners are Child Vision and The Gavin Glynn Foundation.

In 2021, the total donated was €414,000 between two charities:

  • Larkin Community College, a school located close to our Abbey Street office in Dublin
  • ALONE, a national organisation that enables older people to age at home as well as providing befriending services, advocacy and support

In 2022, the total donated to our two charity partners - Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland and Women’s Aid was €512,000.  This was €256,000 raised by employees and €256,000 from Irish Life which matches every euro employees raise.

Despite everything, Irish Life staff once again exceeded the previous year's target! This is an incredible amount of money for both Charities and will help provide support services and equipment needs.

Find out more about this year's Irish Life charity partners, voted for by the Irish Life employees - Child Vision and The Gavin Glynn Foundation

ChildVision looks beyond the challenges faced every day by children and young people with sight loss and complex disabilities. ChildVision helps families find heartfelt connection, a new pathway, and to see the potential for their children and young people. It believes every child should have every opportunity to live their very brightest future.

Located in Drumcondra, Dublin, ChildVision is Ireland’s only dedicated centre for children with sight loss, some of whom also have profound sensory impairments and additional disabilities. A national resource for families and professionals needing expert help in the area of sight loss, or sight loss in combination with additional disabilities, ChildVision also offers a satellite service from Cork.

The Gavin Glynn Foundation believes that all children with cancer deserve the best care, wherever in the world that might be.

The mission of the Foundation is to assist families with all the logistics and financial aspects of travelling overseas for specialist cancer treatment. Supporting the parents in accessing and organising that care is what the Foundation does. Keeping the whole family together, during travel for a child’s cancer treatment, is essential for the wellbeing of the patient, as well as the parents and siblings. This is why The Foundation covers the travel and accommodation costs for the whole family.

To date, with the support of the Foundation’s amazing supporters, The Gavin Glynn Foundation has been able to help 195 families battling childhood cancer from all over Ireland.

Both Child Vision and The Gavin Glynn Foundation need support so they can continue to offer this care. Irish Life Staff have already run various fundraising initiatives and there are more planned for the rest of the year!
